About Us

The brainchild of Caroline and Ian Handley, the Apothecary Shop was set up in 2008 to offer natural organic and ethical products to promote health and well-being. This treasure trove of a store now continues with those same values in the hands of Jeni Howland. 

We like to find the best in local manufacturers close to our Herefordshire home, as well as producers throughout the British Isles, but will also look elsewhere in the world for ethically sourced products with their own unique characteristics and locally sourced ingredients. We seek out like minded companies, using high quality ingredients which meet rigorous sustainable standards and where trading and sourcing is as ethical as possible.

Products we believe in

As well as natural remedies and supplements, The Apothecary Shop stocks organic and ethical products for skin and hair care, essential oils for aromatherapy and massage, feminine hygiene and personal care products as well as a selection of gift items. We stock a veritable treasure trove of dried herbs and flowers and ingredients and supplies to make your own products. We live up to our name; The Apothecary Shop stocks everything you need for maintaining health and well-being, dealing with common ailments, hair care, body care, skin care, oral health and also beauty essential including natural makeup and nail care. We appreciate that things change over time and not all solutions meet everyoneís needs equally, all of the time. We do have many products with universal benefits, but also seek to provide products for different age groups, to meet the particular needs of men and women and those with specific issues such as sensitive skin. We usually stock a good range of samples to try before you buy and can often source particular products for customers, which we don't usually stock. We want customers to be happy with their purchases and aim to provide the best customer service we can, so if you need us, just call or email and weíll do our best to help.

We are mindful of the cost associated with good quality products and always try to provide a variety of ranges at different prices to suit all pockets. From the start, our mission was to promote ethically sourced, good quality, natural and organic products at affordable prices.

The Apothecary Shop is located in the market town of Ledbury, nestled in the rising slopes of the Malvern Hills and surrounded by glorious English countryside. Why not visit us and treat yourself to the best in ethical and organic products or arrange an appointment with one of our experienced therapists? We provide a Loyalty Card providing a 3% discount to local in-store customers, subject to spending limits. If you visit be sure to ask for your own loyalty card.
